  • What is Aromatherapy?

People commonly think that aromatherapy refers to anything that smells good. Such as, scented candles, potpourri, and perfumes but aromatherapy is much more than that. Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person's mind, mood, cognitive function or health.

There are different essential oils used in the products during aromatherapy which have different effects over the body. Lemon oil is one of the more commonly used oils as a stress reliever along with Lavender another popular extract that helps with insomnia, pain relief and minor wounds or burns. In addition, sage oil is helpful in boosting of short term memory, which many of us may need. Aromatherapy products can be found in the form of oils that can be used for massaging as well.

The usage of aromatherapy products may be beneficial for health but it’s important to keep in mind that while these oils are natural extracts they mused be used properly. Pay close attention to dosage, administration, and possible interactions that may take place with other medications you might currently be taking.
